What are condiments?

Different types of condiments can be found the world over, with many areas and towns sporting specialty pickles and sauces that are delicious with regional cuisines. For example, indian condiments vary across the many subregions of India. These include spicy pickles and chutneys that pair sumptuously with curries, stews and flatbreads. Japanese condiments are another type of grocery item. There are a multitude of Japanese-style condiments that perfectly complement many meals in our pantry.
