Spring Wine Selection
A six-pack of wines to align with the versatile nature of Melbourne's spring to enjoy as the warmer months unfold. Great value for sensational small release wines. Unfortunately, the Spring Wine Selection is not available for pick up in Balwyn.
Each six pack of wine includes one of the following:
2019 Lenton Brae Pinot Blanc, Margaret River WA
There's a quiet confidence to be found in this Pinot Blanc. It's not an attention-seeking aromatic nor a showy wine with reliance on new oak and artefact. Instead, it's sleek and textured, with gentle nutty savouriness and a core of white peach and pear. A wine that supports food rather than overwhelming it and is all too easy to drink on its own.
2021 Lucky Cat Amber Pinot Gris - King Valley VIC
Pink-skinned Pinot Gris is such a versatile variety for winemakers - it can be interpreted as white, rosé or, as here, amber. Cool climate grapes from an elevated vineyard in King Valley, spent a few days on skins to extract colour and flavour, then were wild fermented and aged in old oak. Gentle skinsy grip, burnished apple fruit and a spicy finish.
2020 Zlati Grič Blaufränkisch Rosé - Štajerska Slovenija SLO
Zlati Grič is a significant producer in the hills of Škalce, in the region of Štajerska Slovenija, north eastern Slovenia. Not so familiar with the wines of this area? Well, there's evidently plenty of discovery to be had. Very pale rosé, just a shimmer of pink, with loads of soft strawberry, tart redcurrant freshness and low alcohol. Delightful.
2021 Jumping Juice Sunset - Margaret River WA
Is it rosé? Is it orange? Sunset is neither, and both, and it's very good drinking! Pale pinky-orange, lifted with briar, cherry and nectarine, it's the result of a whole-berry fermentation of Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Irreverent and delicious.
2019 Santa Sofia Valpolicella Classico Corvina blend - Veneto IT
Valpolicella comes in all shapes and sizes, but this light-bodied style is a favourite as the weather warms. Made from varieties indigenous to Veneto, Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella are sourced from the chalky slopes of the Classico zone in the heartland of the region. Crunchy and fragrant, with notes of raspberry and dried herb, this is a wine destined for a plate of salami with green olives and fruity extra virgin olive oil.
2019 Ottelia Graciano - Padthaway SA
Graciano may play a bit part in classic Rioja, but the team at Ottelia have given this Spanish variety centre stage. Mid weight and supple, scented with violet, dried lavender and rhubarb. The palate is dark fruited and savoury with a lick of spice and earth, just perfect for pink-cooked spring lamb.
